Competitor review
Competition
There are a limited number of direct competitors in the global market for CaCiRa. The complexities of the technology with the application limits the willingness of the masses to participate in the product development.
Panasonic with the collaboration of Kyoto University build a radar health monitoring device in 2016 that has since been upgraded to a smaller size. Some of the latest features include the use of a 79-GHz frequency band; improved measurement sensitivity by integrating CMOS semiconductors into a single chip for millimeter-wave radar; increased sensitivity with finer resolution in the distance direction of the measurement range; and precise separation of the noise that would otherwise affect the estimation accuracy of the heartbeat interval in order to simultaneously measure the heartbeat intervals of several people with a single radar. This device stands as the main competitor to CaCiRa despite its current unavailability to end consumers [ref].
Many indirect competitors exist for CaCiRa in the areas of wearable vitals monitoring devices and patient monitoring systems. In the areas of wearable vital monitoring, Apple and Xiamoi stands as the biggest competitors having market share of 34.2% and 11.8% respectively in 2020. Fitbit, the company that previously dominated the market, had lost its market share to just 2.9% [ref]. The Canadian patient care monitoring is dominated by Abbott Laboratories, Boston Scientific Corporation, Becton Dickinson and Company, GE Healthcare, and Masimo Corporation in that order.
